Icon Collection
Launched in 2001 by a Hollywood filmmaker and art collector, Icon introduced the world to Andy Warhol’s Campbell Soup Can imprinted on a leather sneaker.
This bold use of color, printed on soft, supple leather was unique in the black, brown and grey world of leather shoes, and the trend caught fire. By licensing the use of images from up-and-coming artists as well as masters like Monet, Van Gogh and Klimt, Icon created a phenomenon.
Soon, Icon began producing custom handbags using this same, specialized technique. These exciting new designs were an instant hit, grabbing the attention of media and celebrities and fueling a wave of popularity. Within months, leading retailers including Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales and Fred Segal were selling-out of these wild, new "conversation starters".
Today, Icon continues to be a trend setter in handbags, small leather goods, and unique leather shoes, producing beautiful, wearable, works of art that express individuality with both function and style. Explore this unique, eclectic collection today and find your next “masterpiece.”
About Mary Trudeau
Guest Mary Trudeau is the owner and creative genius behind Icon. Designing fabulous handbags and shoes featuring works of art came naturally to this art lover, who together with her husband has traveled and collected art for years.
Explains Mary, “It was a natural synergy…when we discovered the process of printing art on leather, that we would put that love of art on shoes and handbags. I love the research of art, trying to see what translates well to fashion and individual tastes.”
Developing new designs and keeping a finger on the pulse of fashion isn’t always easy, but Mary has a good way of keeping things in perspective.
“When I hear stories from our customers about how they have enjoyed the attention of others when they wear our products, it makes all the work worthwhile.”
