Nao® by Lladro "Connection" Porcelain Figurine

Two figures, serenely reflecting on the horizon. Handcrafted for artful style, this glazed figurine portrays a couple sharing a quiet moment. Consider presenting to someone special in celebration of an anniversary or wedding.

Part of the Nao Pure Souls Collection, this piece was introduced in 2009. This figurine is hand painted in delicate pastel shades and kiln fired for more than 20 hours to achieve a flawless final glaze.

About the Pure Souls Collection:
Based on a world of reverie, the figurines in the Pure Souls collection reflect the core values in life through simple aesthetics, pure lines and synthesized forms. Charged with symbolism, these simple forms transport us to a pure universe in which each element plays a central role.

The combination of green with touches of orange represents the union of humankind with the Earth and nature. The more intense tone on the bottom acts as a reminder that nature is at the origin of everything, and that it is thanks to nature that we can grow as human beings.

Just as the green gradually fades the higher we get, the ornamental motifs are also more and more mellowed. This chromatic and ornamental change represents the life journey of every person in the world. Throughout that journey, we all must be capable of getting rid of what is accessory and material in order to focus on the essential values in life, like love, family, friendship - values that are always present in Nao pieces.

The contrast of the glazed porcelain of the clothing with the matte of the skin underscores, yet again, the importance of humankind in its surrounding environment. Something totally dispensable, like clothing, reflects the surrounding reality, while hands and faces acknowledge character, feelings and values - without glazes or reflections which might distort our true essence.

Particularly noteworthy are the expressions and the way the characters interact with each other or with the spectator. And though they depict various periods in life, ranging from a couple's love to family, there are all complementary and share the same quest for the transcendent as they look to the horizon confidently.

The figurines are the product of the perfect combination of artisan craftsmanship and modern techniques in the manufacture of porcelain that allow us satisfy the followers of the brand worldwide. Nao is part of the Lladró Group.

The Meaning Behind the Name
Nao is the Spanish word for ship and is used to refer to Spanish and Portuguese merchant ships from the 15th and 16th centuries. The ship featured in the Nao logo was chosen to represent a homeward journey, loaded with the rare spices of creativity, skill and magic. Judge for yourself if the voyage was of merit.
