About the Re-Deco Collection:
One of the newest Lladro collections, Re-Deco adds a fresh perspective to its traditional figurines, through the lens of home decor. Underlying this new initiative is the idea that any classic piece can evolve when given a new decoration; a new meaning. The Re-Deco Collection features white porcelain figurines, in gloss or matte, embellished with platinum color. The idea is to grant a more sculptural dimension to each piece, adding new life. The platinum adds a touch of sophistication to any home.
About Lladro:
Founded in 1953 by three brothers, Juan, Jose, and Vicente were born of local farmers and endowed with great artistic talent. Their small family company was formed in the Valencian village of Almacera, Spain. Since then, Lladro has undergone an amazing metamorphosis from an artisan workshop to a huge firm of international scope enjoying continual growth. The company management has remained in the hands of the Lladro family, the owners of the firm, since its inception.
In the beginning, the company adapted styles from past eras, but the unique Lladro style was soon created. In addition to their particular form and color attributes, Lladro sculptures convey an endearing human warmth. Just as before, today's Lladro artists create works in accordance with a stringent artistic process, maintaining the highest quality as well as preserving the essence of the founding brothers.
In 1988, the Lladro Museum and Gallery opened in New York City. Displaying the largest collection of Lladro creations in the world, it includes many artistic works from the Lladro brothers early years. Some of the world's most prominent museums exhibit important Lladro sculptures in their permanent collection, including The Hermitage museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia and the Royal Art and History Museum in Brussels.
A long series of awards pay tribute to the Lladro oeuvre, among them the Prince Felipe Prize for Business Excellence. This award is the most prestigious that can be bestowed upon a Spanish company. The revered Lladro brand and accomplishments have ranked it among the first Spanish brands known worldwide.
Today, Lladro is staffed by about 2,000 employees, the majority of them at the City of Porcelain, a complex on the outskirts of Valencia where all pieces are created. Lladro distributes its creations to more than 120 countries on five continents.
