The Story of the King Buddha Frog
One day during ancient times, the voice of Buddha rang out to a sheep herder who was tending his flock on the hills. He was spellbound by the sound of the voice and stopped to listen, mesmerized. He planted his staff in the ground and rested his chin in his hands atop the staff.
Deep underground, just below where the herder stood, was a frog escaping the cold weather. When the herder stopped to listen and planted his staff in ground, it pierced the body of the frog. The enlightened words of Buddha's voice echoed down the herder's staff into the frog. The little frog did not struggle or make a sound as he recognized Buddha's voice and did not want to cause a disturbance.
When Buddha's voice sub ceased, the shepherd went back to his flock. Because of the frog's virtuous decision not to interrupt the voice of Buddha the frog was reborn in the Realm of the Gods. The legend says he was transformed into Lord Indra himself.
