Pamela McCoy Removable Shell Double Breasted Button Front Trench Coat"I am so excited about this trench. We poured water on this and it just rolls off. This is four seasons. It does have a liner. You can take the liner out and it becomes a three-season trench. It is really just a smart buy. Not only do we have all the great details. All my buttons are custom made and they say 'Pamela McCoy', and to do the gunmetal, it updates a classic trench instantly." --Designer Pamela McCoy

About Trench Coats:
Commonly associated with an army officer's uniform, trench coats are traditionally knee-length waterproof raincoats. The creation of the trench coat design is attributed to renowned designer Thomas Burberry, the inventor of gabardine fabric, who created a coat for the British War Office. During World War I, epaulettes were added at the shoulders to hold gloves. The coat's name is said to be created by soldiers in the trenches who called the raincoat a "trench coat." After the war, many veterans included the look in their civilian wardrobes. This classic silhouette has endured through the years, offering a sophisticated look for many occasions.
Additional Information:
Five button front closure. Gunmetal hardware. The jacket is fully lined to protect and extend the life of the garment. Made of 100% polyester. Remove shell prior to cleaning, machine wash separately on the gentle cycle in cold water, do not bleach, tumble dry on low heat, iron on cool if necessary.

Lovely Coat - One or Two Caveats,
November 18, 2009
By Chrysla

"Looks great in the blue and was a fine value for the price (on clearance). The Large (with 47.5 chest room) fits well in the shoulders and the armholes and will nicely accomodate a sweater or suit. Thankfully, the coat does not run as small as PM's other outerware. Be aware of the poly-plastic-like feel - this is not a cotton blend and if you slip on ice you will continue to slide. Also the animal-print lining is done in cocoa, cream and black and is unattractive/incompatible with the blue - a matching blue would have been better - seems like it was done to use the existing fabric up rather than spend to produce another lining."

A little too long...,
November 16, 2009
By Madridkid

"I like the details of the trenchcoat...very well thought out to keep out all raindrops. It is a little too long for me (I am 5' 4") but I will hem it up. I would have liked a brighter cherry red too as I was going for "cheery" on a dismal day but overall, I am pleased with my coat."

great coat,
November 13, 2009

"I love this coat I took it over to Ireland with me on a recent trip. However, somewhere I lost the strap to one side of the coat. The coats belts were large and this particular one kept falling off-until I lost it. Is there any way I could buy a replacement for the belt loops? I took the other one off and it looks OK but I would feel more comfortable with both straps on the garment. Thanks"

"Everything about this coat is wonderful! Beginning with the care taken to package it to the lining which doesn't stick to your clothes to the design, Pamela never disappoints. I will get lots of wear out of this coat and will really enjoy it. Only thing I am not wild about are the buttons as I don't like wearing other people's names so visibly but I do love the gunmetal color so I give it an A!"

"I was looking through my coat closet this weekend and I had forgotten that I purchased this coat since I have so many of Pam's coats. Anyway I was thrilled I had purchased it for the upcoming Fall. It is made beautifully and I love all of the details and the lining is so pretty. Great coat everybody!"

BEAUTIFUL Rain & Shine Coat!!,
August 1, 2009

"I purchased this coat in the London Blue and I love the color. The blue is not too bright and not too drab... a nice color anyone could wear. It fit me well (I ordered the Large; I normally wear a size 14-16 top) except the length is long on me. I am 5'4" and it reaches easily almost to my ankles but that's okay. I want it for a raincoat. The zip-out liner is a nice feature not easily found on this type of coat. I don't know if it would be heavy enough for our Wisconsin winters but for spring, summer and fall it's perfect. (I don't need a raincoat here in winter anyway... I would need a warm SNOWcoat) :) I was a little afraid that the sleeves might be too long on me because I normally have to buy tops in petite sizes, otherwise the sleeves cover my hands; but the sleeves on this particular coat are an okay length. I like the silky/satiny feel of the fabric. It does have a nice subtle sheen to it, but not a cheap almost plastic shine. Just enough. I would wear this for dressing up with boots or high heels as well as casual with jeans. It's a pretty coat on, and the style is classic so it can be worn for many seasons! Worth every penny! This one is a keeper! Now I am awaiting the arrival of my new Pamela McCoy lamb leather Dubai Walker coat! I can't wait to see THAT one! I'm EXCITED!!! Thanks Pam! P.S. Pam, could we possibly see more tops, lamb blazers, and sweaters proportioned in PETITE sizes please?? We are not all as tall as your beautiful models!!"

"This trench was aired twice time before I decided to purchase it and I'm very glad I did! When I received it I should not have been surprised, but I was. It was right on time for the weather here in Northern California. I received so many compliments on how beautiful it is. I have to say I'm very pleased! Thanks again Mrs. McCoy! Hated this coat,
April 28, 2009
By skeptic
from Gold Coast of Connecticut
|
"I guess I'm the exception here. I absolutely loathed this coat. I hated the merlot color. I hated the fabric. I hated the fit. I hated the length. I hated the buttons with Pam's name on them.
I've bought about a billion pieces from Pam's various collections over the years. I have never felt anywhere near as negative about any previous purchase as I feel about this coat."

Best Coat,
April 8, 2009
By foofoo
from Houston, Texas
|
"I shop from the three major shopping networks. I am almost 6 feet tall and all of the others had numerous trenches but all short. This one is perfect for me. In Houston we get hot, hot, and more hot weather. So thankful for the zip-out liner. I got the x-large and have plenty of room for my Pam McCoy leather jackets underneath. I am so elegant in the rain. If there was a hood I would not wear it. It is perfect the way it is."

Great Trench,
March 11, 2009

"This is a great trench for the money. The 1X was too long for me at 49 inches otherwise I would have kept this coat because it is fabulous. I will buy the other shorter trench."

WHERE'S THE HOOD?,
March 10, 2009
By tmmm4
from Dallas, TX
|
"I agree with an earlier customer ... where's the hood. Like the coat. Not heavy at all. Would not suggest for extreme cold sans another piece worn under it. I got the red and it is actually a dark hue like wine or merlot. It really does not have the brightness of color show online. The fabric is what I needed, like a raincoat, shiny, satin like and you would expect it to repell water. Length is great, long, and there's no 'slit' in the back. Fits well with enough fullness for comfort. Belt is unconstructed so will tie it like the models do. Exercised many returns searching for something like this and tomorrow's outlook is RAIN! Thanks Pam"

Off-The-Chain Fabulous!,
March 9, 2009
By sweetessence
from New York, NY

"I was very skeptical when i ordered this as i have been desperately searching for a great black trench/rain coat... I FOUND IT! This coat is FANTASTIC! The first thing i noticed was the packaging... outstanding. Buttons covered (every last one of them), buckles covered, tissue paper and plastic covered with Pam's name on it... a classy tag on the label inside the coat and perfectly folded into the box. Now, this is not my first Pam purchase but i have to say it is the best one yet! I wish i had purchased the blue one also for the Top Value price on March 4, 2009. The coat fits perfectly... and i'm not a great fan of double breasted coats as i am a curvy size 14 gal, but this coat looks so lovely on... i can't wait to wear it tomorrow... we're having a couple of rainy days here in NYC... yippie for me! The lining and zip-out lining is to-die-for. This coat will work in the winter and the spring/summer. Thanks for making it long because i hate short rain wear... what good is a short rain coat? i'm only 5'2 but i hate getting my pants and skirts wet in a down pour. Thanks again Pam... you did great!"

"This coat is beautiful, elegant, classy, real... Thanks again Pamela. The way is made and finish is really very nice. Pamela does not miss things. This coat pleases me a lot and the only thing I could think it could be better if there was a removable hood included. I would say: class, grace and comfort and of course... quality. Coat is well done, beautiful, elegant and quality. There is no return on something like this. :)"

"This coat is fabulous, Ms. Pamela. I wear a Large, ordered a black one, and just arrived today.
