More About Me
As a child, I really enjoyed….tennis and cooking and being a spoiled younger brother
How I got into the home shopping business…I hosted cooking and travel shows in the UK and started doing some work in the USA. My agent asked me what I thought about shopping TV and I was thrilled at the chance to explore it
Greatest achievement….writing my first cookbook. I was quite taken away when I saw it for the first time. Then on the third page it said “To Eleanor with love.” (That’s my daughter.) Needless to say I got teary-eyed.
I spend my free time…as much as possible with my wife and daughter. I do love to travel, too.
In my personal life, I am motivated by…My parents and my family. I just want to bring up my daughter with the same values that my wife and I share.
My mentors are…professionally, a brilliant director Stephen Daldry who has great success but possesses such modesty. In personal life, my wife Jane. She always lets me know what’s real and makes the right choices all the time.
If I could change one thing about myself, it would be…Relax and enjoy the moment
My friends and family would describe me as….I am always looking for a way to make people laugh and I do not take myself too seriously.
My hidden talents are…I actually love to fish but do not get the chance much now
The accomplishment I am most proud of…always wanting to be in TV and making it happen
What I most looking forward to…spending time with my wife and daughter
My future goals are…a long career at ShopNBC
My first day at ShopNBC…I had a cooking show with the McCoy’s. Looking back after 1,200 live hours at ShopNBC, I think I was a little different then.
A day in my life as a ShopNBC host is…I think most hosts will say Ground Hog Day
My schedule is…All over the place. But I am a Virgo so I keep it in order.
I prepare for a show…..at least an hour before each show but I also do lots of work at home on the computer, as we know our shows well in advance.
My favorite on-air moment was…Always when it involves laughing, which has been many times.
My most embarrassing moment on air…Well I said something I shouldn’t, but it was funny. I also almost burned down the house doing a live cooking show on a UK TV show.
The best part about being a ShopNBC host is…Live TV. It changes all the time, good or bad it is so exciting.
The most challenging part of hosting is…I enjoy it so much I really cant think of it being challenging.
As a ShopNBC host, I am motivated by…the knowledge of product we get and the chance to work with some great guests. We are always ahead of the game with so many products.
Off camera, I…am the same person. You can’t perform on live TV. You have to be yourself.
My favorite shows are…Well it was cooking but now I get disappointed when I have no jewelry in my day. I love the diamonds we bring to our customers.
If I was stranded on a deserted island, the one ShopNBC product I couldn’t live without is...my Serta mattress.
I most like shopping for....clothes, I am pretty bad though, and my wife can’t believe it.
If I weren’t hosting, the career I’d be in is…cooking in some way and travel. It's what I've always done, and I will always have a passion for the two. I have designed the menus on the airline KLM and also have 4 cook books out so love to write recipes all the time.
The hosts I spend the most time with outside of ShopNBC are...We all get together a lot. Mike is like a big brother, Charla is a gem and Katina and I chat lots on the phone and always seem to end up laughing. It's a great group and so many different characters.
If I could be any other host for one day, I would you choose…Charla. She has the most amazing following and people call in just to say how much they love her.
The first thing I would do if I won the lottery is…I would have to play it first.
I am really bad at but wish I was great at….singing. I would love to sing, and I am really, really bad. Even the cats leave the room if I try.
