King-Werk Limited Edition "Alpine Santa & Silent Night Chapel" Handcrafted Stoneware Stein
Welcome the season with a mug worthy of your finest beer. Handcrafted in the tradition of classic German "steinkrugs," the piece is covered with sculptured artwork showcasing Christmas images, with a German twist. Made in Germany.
One side of the stein features Santa, dressed in lederhosen, holding aloft his own beer stein. The other side features an image of "Nikolaus-Kirche" (Church of St. Nicholas), located in Austria. It was at this chapel that the popular Christmas hymn "Silent Night" was first performed on December 24, 1818. The base of the stein is encircled with bells, holly berries, Alpine edelweiss flowers, and enzian flowers. The stein is topped with an ornate, three-dimensional pewter lid.
Hand painted and fired repeatedly for long-lasting quality, the limited edition stein is individually numbered - only 10,000 stein were created. Each stein is signed on the base by the modeler and painter.

About King-Werk:
Founded in 1949, King-Werk is a family-owned business that practices the centuries old craft of stein making. Located in Germany's Western Forest, many King-Werk steins are based on antique designs. In the early 1500s, Germany established laws requiring that all food and beverage containers be covered to protect their contents, in reaction to several fly invasions and the bubonic plague. In response, easy-open "steinkrugs" were created with the lid, hinge and thumb lift combined. Created by skilled craftsman, you can carry on a European tradition with your own artful King-Werk stein.
