    Choosing Bath Towels:

Towels are generally made from one of four different types of cotton: Egyptian cotton, micro cotton, standard cotton and Supima cotton. These cotton types are differentiated by their fibers and staple lengths. Regardless of the material from which towels are made, they are generally terry style, meaning they are made of loops. Longer and denser loops make for a more absorbent and sturdier towel.

Towels made from higher-quality materials are the best option for those that will be used frequently. They last longer and boast a higher level of absorbency. Most towels are machine washable and dryable. Experts recommend avoiding using fabric softener on towels because it leaves a film that inhibits absorbency.

Egyptian Cotton: Egyptian cotton is long-staple cotton grown in Egypt. The strong staples average a lengthy 1-3/8”. Towels made from this fiber are soft and plush, and generally cost more than those made from other staples.

Micro Cotton: Towels made with micro cotton are uniquely plush, luxuriously soft and wonderfully absorbent. Micro cotton is the first new development in cotton production made in decades. Extra-long staple fibers are super combed and softly spun to create yarn that is fluffier, softer and more absorbent than standard cotton.

Standard Cotton: Standard cotton, as it sounds, is basic cotton made into yarns for a moderate-quality towel. It boasts all the pleasing qualities of cotton fibers, but does not offer the luxurious absorbency of longer-staple yarns.

Supima Cotton: The name Supima is an abbreviation for superior Pima. Pima cotton is a specially developed, exceptionally strong fiber. Supima specifically is an extra-long-staple cotton that is made from 100% Pima. Supima fibers average 1-1/2” in length.
