Can I erase just a portion of the writing surface?
  • No, you cannot erase just a portion of the writing surface. The entire surface is cleared when the erase button is pushed.

Can I purchase a magnet kit and mount the Jot 8.5 to my fridge?
  • The Jot 8.5 includes built-in magnets so users can mount it to refrigerators, filing cabinets or other metallic surfaces. No additional purchase necessary.

Why does the contrast on the writing surface change based on the lighting conditions?
  • Because the Jot 8.5's LCD is reflective, the contrast is dependent on ambient lighting conditions in the same way as ink/graphite on paper. Thus, the contrast is optimal and looks best when viewed under bright (indirect) light. Contrast is decreased when it is used in dim lighting conditions. The reflective nature of the LCD allows the eWriter to consume no energy when writing/drawing.

What is the purpose of the slot on the top left of my Jot 8.5?
  • You can slide the tapered end of the stylus through the slot and use it as a 'kickstand' for horizontal viewing - great for leaving messages by the phone or on the kitchen counter.

Is there a way to prevent the writing surface from being erased?
  • Yes, you can prevent the writing surface from being erased by sliding the erase lock switch (located on the upper left side of the eWriter) into the lock position. When the switch is in the lock position, the erase button is disabled.
