2011 1 oz Silver NGC MS69 Australia Koala Coin

The 2011 edition of the popular Australian Koala Silver Coin Series depicts an appealing new design. The koala is an internationally recognized symbol of Australia. An arboreal marsupial, it spends most of its time in trees. Inactive during the day, it feeds on the foliage of the eucalypti at night.

The koala is one of the few mammals, other than primates, that has fingerprints very similar to that of a human. Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in specimen quality. DESIGN The reverse design depicts a mature koala and juvenile resting in the fork of a eucalyptus tree. The inscription AUSTRALIAN KOALA, the weight and fineness, and The Perth Mint's 'P' mint mark also feature as part of the design. The coin's obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadly effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date and monetary denomination. Each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
